Gorman-Redlich CAP-to-EAS Decoder System

The FCC Second Report and Order and Further Notice of Proposed Rulemaking, adopted on May 31, 2007, mandates that all EAS Participants will be required to accept alerts and warnings in the CAP format should that protocol be adopted by FEMA. Since then FEMA-IPAWS has been busy working on a CAP-EAS profile to determine how EAS messages will be transmitted via CAP.

The emergency alerting experts at Gorman-Redlich have the answer in the form of the Gorman-Redlich CAP-to-EAS Decoder unit, offered as a standalone unit that will translate received CAP alerts into EAS headers, which will be transmitted by your current EAS equipment the same as they already are. For those who wish to upgrade their current EAS encoder/decoder units as well as conform to the FCC mandate, develpment is underway on a combination EAS encoder/decoder/CAP-to-EAS converter unit.
